My hotel room was robbed what can I do about it?

Question:
I had just checked into a room and after putting my stuff inside I left to go get food and air freshner. When I returned (within 30 min) I went to unlock my door and found it open. I pushed the door open and found my suitcase was gone. The door had been pried open with a screwdriver or something. I called the police and got a police report. I checked out of the hotel and they gave me a refund (I was only checked into the room for an hour). Does anyone know if the hotel should have insurance to pay for my stolen items or should my homowners or auto insurance cover it. Or is there anything I can do to get my stuff replaced. The hotel did not seem very concerned about the fact that I was robbed.
Thanks

Answer:
read the agreement you signed when checking into the room , it probably states they have no liability , try to get insured under homeowners - maybe under offsite storage ??
They should be concerned. You should ask them that insurance question. I sure would. If not your auto insurance might help.
hotels provide security up to their best ability..usually. that for the most part excludes them from liability. if they had no security..ie the locks, they would be. tough case to prove . go with home owners, but keep in mind the co-pay amounts
Unfotunantly the hotel is not responsible for personal property. That's why most have a vault where you can store anything expensive. I'm not sure about your homeowneres you would have to check your policy.
contact the hotels home office and see what they have to say about it...your home owners/auto insurance won't cover anything if your on vacation and have your things stolen...you can also look into travel insurance the next time
You can only burglarize a hotel room, you cannot rob it. You can only rob a person.

I would file a claim with the hotel. If their insurance company denies the claim, you can sue in small claims court. Most big companies tend to settle because of the cost of defending the claim and PR.
That's not a robbery that's a theft, you should read the hotel's policy on stolen items if they don't have a disclaimer you could probably call their insurence company and take out a claim...
Well i've never been robbed and i never want to. I would sew the hotel Well i dont know by
