Will my auto comprehensive insurance cover a wiring fire under the dash of my auto?
Question:
Answer:
Read your policy -- most policies will cover RESULTING damage due to fire loss, which means the causation of the fire will not be covered, i.e; a mechanical failure. Example: fuel rail splits and sprays gas over the engine resulting in fire damage to wiring, hoses and paint. The rail, (the cause) is not covered by the insurance policy (though it may be covered under warranty)
I do believe it is covered under the comprehensive coverage.
yes in most cases it does cover things like this,,since it is not considered a mechanical problem,,they will how ever look at the present value of the vehicle ,,and may offer to pay you off and take the vehicle,,for salvage i had one burn up on me,,and they payed in full,,and took the car,,i was glad they did,,i hope this helps.
If you are referring to car insurance call your ins. company and they'll immediately be able to tell you whether it is covered or not. If you are referring to extended warranty, which is sometimes mistaken for service contract or insurance then it depends on the level of the plan you purchased. Either way, provided you maintained your car accordingly and did not tamper with any electrical components or wiring or there isn't any negligence on your part there may be light at the end of your dilemma.
yes. Fire losses are considered Comprehensive losses
