3 points on record... auto and moto insurance needed?

Question:
I have 3 points on record... they fall off in 10 months.
1 at fault accident and 1 speeding ticket in 2004.
i am 21 years old. not a student.
Looking for best insurance company to fit my needs... any brokers gimmie some advice?

Answer:
Your most likely are going to need to go with Progressive Insurance for one year, after that switch to another company as you will get better rates at that time.
Two violations, and you're 21. Sorry, unless your credit score is over 700 (not likely at 21), you're going to be stuck with a high risk carrier like Tico or Progressive.

As to your other question, yes, all insurance companies base their rates on credit scores. Companies like Progressive and Leaders don't even score people under 22, as they usually have so little credit history it doesn't matter - they just throw them in the most expensive rating tier.

When you are getting your quotes, they should be disclosing that rating can be affected by credit score.
The best thing you can do is shop around. Try getting quotes online: www.statefarm.com , www.allstate.com , www.aigauto.com . Insurance is going to be high, you are 21 years old and that alone is a red flag for insurance companies. Plus, insurance is higher for a man then a woman (usually). Your rates will go down eventually but for now they are going to be high where ever you go. Sorry to have to ruin your day.
