I am a California resident, I drove my car to New York State for a five month job contract, I just find out my contract will be extend for another five months, I also just received my car registration wil due to renew in November 2006 and a Smog check certificate is required for this renewal.
Since I do not want to lose this contract, I plan to do the car Smog check in New York State, and send the renewal back to DMV in Califorina, but many friends told me that the requirements of Smog check in Calif. are differ from New York State.
Please HELP!!

you are in a bit of a bind there fellow, calif laws are way different from new york, your car is not going to pass.. just register your car in new york and than when you go to calif.change it over again.yes a lot of work but hey you should have done your homework first...
