first thing is to get licensed. you can't do anything without one. most states have courses at various times and places to teach you what you need to pass the state board. try looking at the independent agents website and see whats offered. you may try talking to an independent agent in your area about start up. be prepared to be in the black for the first year or two. once you are set up you want to find as many companies to write with that you can. that way you have more range to offer clients.
