Where can I find cheap auto insurance in the USA?

Question:
I have got quotes from Geico, Progressive, 1800-Safe-Auto and Allstate. For the most part they are all saying the same thing. I have a clean driving record, been driving since I was 17 (now 32) but have a lapse in insurance. Can anyone suggest a good company, I currently live in GA.

Answer:
A number of factors can affect the cost of your automobile insurance. Age, make and model of car, driving record, purpose the car serves, where you keep and drive your car, and your credit rating all affect insurance rates.

Ways to lower your rates:
There are a number of things you can do to lower your rates. Here are some tips:
1) Choose an automobile that is inexpensive to insure.
2) Ask your insurer if they offer any discount plans. Most insurance companies have both vehicle and operator discounts.
3) Raising your deductible can lower your premiums. Make sure you can afford a higher deductible.
4) It pays to shop around. You can often find policies that vary hundreds of dollars for the same coverage on the same car. Try an online service that will give you multiple quotes from top companies.
5) Drive defensively.
6) Improve your credit history.

Cheap car insurance is best found by investing time, educating yourself and comparison shopping. To get multiple quotes at once from top companies go to:

You will get multiple quotes from top companies such as Farmers, Allstate, State Farm & many others. Once again, shop around, get multiple quotes, and learn all you can about a policy before you buy car insurance.

Try Farm Beauru if you have one in your area, we found them to be very reasonable.
Go to a local insurance office - the kind with only 2,3 or 4
branches in your city. You can usually get good deals there
because they don't have all the overhead the big boys have.
For insurance, it pays to shop around locally.
No such thing as cheap car insurance.
Shop around at the one name insurance companies, like State Farm, Nationwide, and one you have already mentioned....Allstate. Stay away from the independant agencies and please.....stay away from Geico, they are a absoulte joke. The lapse you once had more than likely will go against you along with other factors such as where you live and the kind of car you are driving. Your clean driving record will be in your favor.
I would actually suggest an independant broker or agent that works with multiple companies. Let them know your budget and they can shop around for you.
