Auto insurance with international driving licence in CT?

Question:
I'm a graduate student, I want to buy a car but I don't have a U.S. license yet. Does any one know how much auto insurance would cost in Connecticut with an international licence? I have only heard from people that its more expensive.

Answer:
The insurance cost will depend on your age and the make, model and year of the vehicle you buy.

It may be more expensive simply because you have no US driving record, so any insurer who sells you coverage is taking a risk that you may or may not be a good driver with no prior knowledge.

I don't know how much data they can gather about your international license (i.e. any moving violations, accident history), so the extra expense they charge you is, in effect, their risk premium for taking on a driver with no recorded history.
