Question:
I just got my license and was wondering if I could be put on another person's insurance for only 1 month since I will only be driving in the country until January when I go and study abroad.
Answer:
Generally no, unless you are under 18 and living at home, in that case you can go on your parent's insurance, or married and could go on your husband's.
Get insurance for the term they offer, generally 6 months. Are you not going to be driving when you leave the country? Just call your agent when you are about to leave and cancel the insurance. They will refund any excess you paid.
It should be possible to add you to your parents for 6 months, then when you leave they will cancel you and be pro-rated for the other 5 months.
