Can using another address work?
Question:
Answer:
i highly doubt it. my insurance is addressed to my parents house, but i dont live there. i live in a completely different city!
my insurance company knows, and they said that they understand too because of the big difference in price just by where the hell you live! (it's ridiculous!!)
but no, i dont think it would be a problem at all. :)
never done it but know people who have and do. just make sure your address matches your license and other things thats all or you could get a post office box then pickup your mail there even though living at another address
I worked for an insurance company and honestly numbers don't lie. If you are driving farther then your insurance is going to be higher and so on. They will find out.
Depends on whose address you use. If you use a parent's address, you may be able to claim where you currently live is temporary and you parent's is the permanent address.
However, if you get caught using another address falsely, you may be prosecuted. That's worse than an extra $800/year, it could even mean jail time. Insurance companies are very serious about these things and they refuse to lose any money.
It's possible to get away with this but don't expect it to last. I'm sitting in an insurance company underwriting dept as I type they are the ones who sniff this sort of thing out.
What would throw up a red flag on this is if your mailing address is different that the garaging address of your friend. If your mail is delivered to your friend and you list that as your home, it may be undiscovered but should you have an accident, the insurance company will likely find out and correct it. Insurance companies generate reports on their clients who have a garaging address (where you claim to live) that differs from the mailing address.
What you would be doing is an intentional misrepresentation to your insurance company. If you ever have an accident and need them, would you expect, or even demand them to be up front and honest with you? Of course you would, so why not carry that over into your own situation. Because others have done it doesn't make it right. Good luck!
as long as you have a valid mailing address it is verry hard for the insurance companys to do anything about it they have to prove you spend less than 6 months at that address it is done quite often just dont let them know what you are doing
If your insurance company does "catch on" it will probably be because you had an accident. Then you may find that the company will not pay. Why buy insurance that you can't use when you need it? Dumb *** idea, I'd say.
