Best auto insurance for young drivers?
Question:
Answer:
Call an independent insurance agent in your area and ask them to compare rates for you with different companies. Some companies are more sympathetic to younger drivers than others, but your rates will still be fairly high for awhile. In Texas, the rate goes down for females at 21 and males at 25. Your premium is based on many different factors besides your age, though. The year and type of car you drive are major factors. If you drive a car that's several years old and isn't real flashy, the rate is lower. Also, SUV rates are higher. Your driving record is a factor, as well as if you live alone or with someone else. If you still live with your parents, it would be cheaper for you to get listed as a driver on their policy and then pay your parents the difference since their rate will go up. Whatever way you decide to go, remember that your careful driving will be a HUGE plus for you in the future. Your rate goes up for every moving violation, accident, and many tickets, so if you remember that, you can save a lot of money also.
you can try USAA-if you have a family member who is in the military...
Try Progressive, and do not try State Farm-its a rip-off
USAA if you can get it. They have great coverage, and the lowest rates. But you have to be military, ex-military, or dependent or ex-dependent of military to get it.
Progressive is pretty good, but more expensive. Geico costs more than Progressive in most cases. Other than those, you aren't going to get any good deals with anyone, especially one that specializes in young drivers. They're a ripoff.
Like the previous poster said, State Farm is awful!! I had a terrible experience with them on a claim.
The best car insurance for any person would either Progressive, Geico or State Farm!
