I'm in NY and have Allstate Auto Ins. They issued checks covering the total damage of a recent accident.?
Question:
Answer:
Actually once that check is cut its up to you if you want the vehicle fixed or not. They DO NOT ask for proof. If you have a lien on your car however, the lien company may ask you to have it fixed being that they have to sign off on the check as well as you! But no the insurance company is not entitled to ask you for proof of repair. You pay for coverage in case of an accident. Good Luck!
Nope. It's your money. You can do what you want with it. But the insurance company does need to know if the car isn't repaired completely for future insurance value.
After you get the car fixed, take it into the Allstate agent and tell them you have had the car fixed and ask them to inspect it. Also, ask them to send a memo to underwriting stating they have inspected the vehicle and the damage has been repaired.
