Can you buy auto insurance coverage on a month-to-month basis in Louisiana?

Question:
(To clarify, if you only needed coverage for April, but not for the five months afterwards.)

Answer:
You can only buy 6 month or 12 month policies. However, you can cancel the policy, but they usually require 2 months premiums for down-payment.
State Farm offers 6 & 12 month policies, but you can pay monthly. However, they require 2 months' premiums in advance. If you are late 3 times in a 12-month period, you can no longer pay monthly.
