How does a tourist get an auto insurance?

Question:

Answer:
Doug, I'm sensing a theme here with your questions!!

Tourists DON'T get auto insurance, they use public transportation. You can't get a US policy without a license from a US state. You CAN get coverage in your country, and some of the major auto rental places such as Hertz, will honor that.
are you a tourist from within the us? if so, your auto coverage will cover you into whatever state you travel.

I need more info to answer this properly, but if you're an international traveller, some countries require an international license. then you can obtain insurance. typically only one or two companies will deal with an international license so don't waste alot of time calling around. If it's for a long time, then it's worth it. But ask YOUR current company if they cover you in another country. If not, call a major company in the country your visiting and ask them.
