I'm sure there are many things that will factor in your costs, like where you live and what the ground conditions are as well as your local requirements for leach fields and distance from the house. When I built a house in Arizona in 1999 it cost us about $2500.
In my area, a single family septic system can run between $3,000 and $22,000 depending upon soil conditions. We are probably on the extreme end due to the wide variety of soil conditions, but getting even a rough idea here will be difficult. You need to contact a couple of installers in your area. You might also talk with someone at the office in your area that issues septic permits.
In Texas you have to have at least 10 acres to install a septic system, which is somewhat less expensive then an aerobic system for use under 10 acres. Depending on the percolation test and needed field lines, the septic system would run $2800 on the low side and go up from there. Most run about $3500. The aerobic system starts at around $5000 and goes up in cost. Average is about $5500.
We built 3 years ago and the system was $6,500.00. This is in Wisconsin. I would call a few places and get estimates,they should be able to give you a ball park figure if you explain the circumstances. Good Luck on the new construction!
