How do I get clients when I become a licensed real estate appraiser (i.e., loan officers, lawyers, etc.)?

Question:

Answer:
Banks and lenders use approved appraisers. Which means you have to get on their approved list to get their work. This takes going to the lenders personally and asking for their appraisal work. They will either tell you they already have enough or ask you to give them a package. The package will include a resume, copy of your license, current E&O insurance, fee schedule, areas you cover. They will also want appraisal examples for basic single family homes,multi-family and condos. If you don't have one, then just pick out a subject and do an appraisal on it. If you can, find a friend with a condo or ask a landlord if you can appraise their property. Sweeten the deal by giving them a copy of the report. They love that. Lawyers usually don't need the examples of appraisals, but want all the other things. If at all possible,go into their office. Don't call. It's easy to forget a phone call. Last but not least, there are several appraisal websites that will post your name for a fee. I have tried a couple and they have payed the fee for advertising. The longer you are in business, the more clients you will get. Just make sure you do quality work and you turn a report out fairly fast.Good luck.
You need to start generating leads whether it be farming, cold calling, newspaper ads, ect. Whatever you choose to do, you need to stick to it and make a schedule. You are trying to create recognition using your name or face or services you offer.
