Bank trouble?

Question:
My parents bank account was closed today by the bank (not saying any names) ..::cough:: Bank of America ..::cough::..

They closed it without warning and kept my parents and my college funds with them (67k +)

My parents called the IRS to make sure everything was fine, and no problems there.

My mom went to the bank to ask why her account was closed but no answes were given to her but instead she was kicked out by security.

Is there anyway we can find out what happened?

Answer:
Call the head office of the bank..they should be able to tell you what is going on. If they refuse then contact the FDIC. Here is their web site: http://www.fdic.gov/

I will bet that there is some problem like depositing a fraudulent
"Cashiers Check" or "Money Order" that they got from some scam artist. The bank HAS to tell them what this is all about ... otherwise contact the FDIC..

ALSO..you can file a complaint with the Federal Reserve...

Are you POSITIVE that your folks didn't get anything?
Is it possible that they're not telling you everything?

I'm asking because banks don't lock up that kind of money without a reason.

Talk to an attorney about your problem. He/she should be able to help.
Get a lawyer though by the time your done you may be paying the lawyer all the money in the bank
If your parents called the IRS, that seems to me to indicate that they were not totally surprised by this action. The bank cant just do something like this without a government order. Perhaps it is related to terrorism.
There obviously is more to this story than meets the eye or maybe your parents are not disclosing the information fully with you.

If the account is only in your parents name then they need to make an appointment with the Bank Manager to discuss what the problem really is and to try and resolve it.

If the funds are seized by the bank then there must be a legitimate explanation for it such as proof of fraud, etc.
I don't know
I'd get an LA attorney and rip them a new asshole...that's bullshit...! Sorry for the language, but I take money very seriously...
