I am going to be a junior in college this fall and I have been on a general education track for the last two years. I am getting a minor in military science, so backtracking and getting an accounting degree will take too long and require a complete reversal which I can't afford in time or $. As long as I have a degree and lots of accounting/business classes under my belt will future employers care? I've read a lot of stuff online about accounting firms only wanting BS accounting grads despite the fact many CPA's show up to interview with English degrees. Are employers really this fickle about accounting degrees or are they willing to recognize coursework instead? I have the option of getting a Liberal Studies degree with any coursework I want and I will be able to graduate on time, but all the drama over a specific degree is causing me to question this.

Here's my 2 cents...
Since you are still in school, get a temp job with a company that will pay for your education (like a co-op job). That way you can earn your degree as you work.
I would suggest NOT getting a liberal studies degree because the marketplace might swing in the near future and employers might only look for specific Finance degrees, OR, you might want to do something else and regret not having done the finance degree. You can do a general Finance degree or business degree.
