Stop relax and remain calm. They do not through people in prison for owing money. If it is a lot of money contact a CPA they can asses your problem and idetify if it requires an attorney or not. Do not try to fix this problem yourself. Not only is a CPA knowledgeable about tax law and the IRS, but having a third party interface with the IRS is always a good move.
Contact the IRS and get on a payment plan. They would rather you pay them back and work with them than run from them.
set up or gp visit the irs and see about making scheduled payments.
If you are talking about $10,000 or more and for many years ago, you should contact an attorney to discuss your options.
