If you filed a 2nd return electing to have your refund direct deposited, you caused the delay in the processing of your refund, You can not change to direct deposit after you filed your original return. You need to call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 or 1-800-829-0922 and tell the Representative that you filed a Duplicate return. They will notify the Service Center where you filed your return and let them know of the issue and the Service Center can then release your refund.
If they mailed the refund and you do not have it within 30 days of their mailing date you can complete form 3911 to begin a refund trace.
Edit:
Contact your local Post Office to see what the problem may be with delivering of your refund. IF the IRS sent it twice and both times it was returned to the IRS, then there is a problem with the Postal delivery system if the IRS has the complete and correct address.
