I have just been fired, im not sure what to do next?

Question:
I've been working for 5 years with a big american Management consultancy firm in the UK, i have done well on the last 2 projects i worked on, and this is my 2nd real attempt at promotion. Anyway, i feel lost, i had wanted to change but never wanted to get fired...i went for a walk, i cried a little, i cant tell my wife...we only got married 6 months ago. I want to get a job as a project manager or change manager in a retail bank...but im not really sure if thats what i really want, i cant tell my friends...i feel a bit useless.

Answer:
If you have the requisite qualifications you can move on . You are not the first person to be fired put it behind you and just update your resume. Review what made you falter on your last project and move on to spread your resume. Don't think immediately of another big company you could settle for a small company and even plan on setting up your own consultancy.Don't make that mistake tell your wife before she finds out herself and tell your friends they could even help you find a new job. If you believe in God then add prayers as well.Good luck
Talk to a solicitor - did they go through the disciplinary process with you - you may be able to take them to a tribunal.
tell your wife so she can be supportive. you aint the first peson to get fired. it stings but is nothing to be ashamed of. just one of lifes many kicks in the nuts i am afraid. good luck
Sounds like your fuc.ked, doesn't it?
Be honest with everyone especially with your wife. Afterall it's just a job and there are others out there for you. There is life after a job termination.
pick yourself up... stay proud.. and try a totally different career.. something maybe you have never dreamed of... look at boy george for example.., he loves using the brush... not sure which end he prefers.. lol
You've GOT to tell your wife. You can't keep this from her. Don't shut down, communicate. Network. Use your connections. If financially possible take a few weeks off to figure out what you want to do, then go for it full force. Consider moving, if necessary. But you've got to be honest with your wife. The sooner the better. The longer you wait to tell her, the more she will resent it when you finally do tell her.
If they fire you even when you've been performing well, then it's a stroke of luck on your behalf.

You are lucky to have discovered how nasty they are, that they don't give a toss about you.
Get out on the job market and find a worthwhile company to work for, someone who appreciates your hard work and effort.
they cannot just fire you without a reason take them to a tribunal good luck.xx
fired think about what you like to do then find a job witch includes that
Firstly, tell your wife now. If you have only been married 6 months you are prob still in that loved up phase, and she will give you the sympathy you obviously need. Then, when your head is more together, write out what you want/need from your working life. Then search the internet, or go and see a careers adviser.

Work is only work- if we weren't paid for it, who would go??!! Therefore, it should not be the focus of your life. You obvoiusly have something far more important in your life (YOUR MARRIAGE) and that should always be your focus. There are plenty more jobs out there, just do not panic!!
Time to gird your loins, hitch up your trousers. set your jaw, square up your shoulders and move on.
I would suggest that the first you should do is to file for unemployment benefits, until you get another job.You should also tell your wife, so she can emotionally support you and that way you don't start keeping secrets from her a such early stage of your marriage. Keep in mind that if she discovers it, later on, she sure is going to think you lied to her or even worst she might think that you rather tell other people but her.
you need to tell your wife and freinds.you sound as though you are a bit upset and sad (down). Be strong and tell those close to to you so they can help and support you in this time of need.I think you will be suprised at the reactions that you get from your friends and family. Im sure they will give you lots of help and guidence if you only open up and tell them.
Be strong good luck..

This kind of thing is terribly unpleasant but it happens to more people than you can imagine. From what you have written, you sound decent, intelligent and ambitious. Therefore -- unless something is very wrong indeed -- you should be able to find alternative employment. The important thing is 1/ to decide what you really want, 2/discuss the matter with your wife.
Come on pull yourself together it is not the end of the world. You sound very employable. just get your CV sorted out on a word file and start posting it to the agences looking for staff.
Why are you feeling so bad you may have to talk to a doctor, could you be suffering with depression lately take the course of pills and get back to work.
1. Let your wife know. She should support you. If she doesn't post another question!
2. Sort out your CV NOW NOW. Make it precise & brief highlighting your achievements. No crap. No typos. No more than 1 page.
3. Send the CV to every possible employer asap & await the response.
4. Respond to job ads as well.
5. Use your network of contacts to find more people to talk to.
6. There is no stigma attached to getting fired. It happens to the very best & is well accepted nowadays. It is all in your mind. Get rid of the negative thoughts.
I sympathise with you. You have to relax first and and make up your mind. You seem very ambitious to me. So once you straighten up your thoughts and be strong you will be able to find what you are looking for.
