I got a letter from Human Resources depart. of a job I applied for and it wanted me to clarify my background..
Question:
"pending". My question is.. Is there any specific buzz words or law lingo I need to use to explain to HR that this was foolish on my part and I am a good worker. (my references and education came back good). They told me in the letter that my application was pending, and they wanted to give me a chance to clarify my background before they make a hiriing decision. So I'm assuming if I gave them a good story and further highlight my accomplishments, that they will hire me. Please someone help me. and please let me know why the first charge showed up on the background check!
P.S there was no convictions at all,
help me figure this out pleasee
I don't have any help for you on trying to spin it, but the nolle prosequi offense means that the prosecution dropped the case, so you weren't convicted.
nope your done for. kiss the job good-bye
Explain it honestly and with sincerity.
Why did you give them your social security number?
You are not required to by law. Read the Privacy Act of 1974. Did you sign anything giving them permission to run a background check on you? Learn and know your damn rights. OK?
What about the pending case? Has it been dismissed? Can you get it dismissed? That's the important issue. Hype the innocent till proven guilty theme.
The nol pros simply says you were arrested and the DA didn't have enough evidence to go forward.
A nol pros is not an expungement, so the arrest will show on a background check.
Well I am assuming you gave then permission to run a back ground check. Personally I would question the 2 shoplifting charges, especially the one that is still pending. Even though you claim it was foolish on your part it doesn't change the fact about you being a thief. To me that is questionable enough. I think they might be hoping you answer will be that you were with a friend that was caught shoplifting and you were both charged. But since you have been charged twice and one charge is still pending you will have to come up with your own creative answer for that.
