This is someone from Karachi Pakistan. I am Manager in Human Resource Department of one of the largest organizations of Pakistan.
In Pakistan, HR is merely a department to serve paytroll management and related issues. At most, it has the most short-termed function of HR i.e. Recruitmet system. Although y Organization stands out from the rest as it has Recruiment, Job Descriptions, HRIS, Employee Relations, Legal Affairs section of HR.
It is, though, can be said comfortably, that HR is gaining popularity very fast in pakistan, and within a span of 4-5 years, Pakistan may also recognize the importance of HR Management. The need is to recognize the Job Analysis function as the base of all HR activities. You must have experienced that job market of HR professionals has radically increased since 2-3 years. You can comfortably take HR as career, but situation in Lahore may not be very feasible. We have several HR jobs at Karachi.
Uk is offering great HR studies which shows seriousness towards HR Management.
In Karachi, we have several well established Recruitment Agencies, mostly used as Head Hunting facility by large organization, especially Multinationals. The scope is wide, but if you are planning to start one, you need to have good contacts and PR with the market to start off your work. Companies are now saving time by outsourcing selected jobs to Recruitment Agencies. Though, I must say, that even these Agencies are not as Professionals as you can find in UK
