Answer:
Hi, don't crack a joke it will come across as false and rehearsed, far better to be yourself, smile and show you are relaxed (even if you don't feel it!) and of good humour and comfortable within yourself.
You should have some knowledge of the software installation unless the job ads say "no experience necessary" - even so, it looks better if you can show you are so keen that you know a few things. Even if you don't say this, knowing will make you feel more confident and will help when you get the job (I say when as you will, you will!)
Talk positively about your background with computers and what you know, sell yourself and why you think you would be good for the position. You could mention that you are au fait with reformatting hard drives (sounds better than "putting windows on") and if you know any specific technical things you could mention those too. For instance the registry. Overcoming potential problems such as being familiar with System Restore, the registry and command prompts may help too - you donot need to know things in massive detail and now is too late to start trying to cram as you will overwhelm yourself and be tired for the interview. Better to arrive fresh and confident with what you already know and make that sound as positive as possible.
If you can have a look up on Google about the company, do so as this always goes down well. ALL interviewers ask if you have any questions - make sure you say "well, I was looking up the company on the internet and I was wondering if........" - a good question is "will there ever be the possibility of further career oportunities". Here you have shown you are genuinely interested in the company (by looking it up) and will be committed to the job and will want to do your absolute best. This is a great question that demonstrates that.
Don't worry too much as you will be flustered by the time the interview comes - be yourself and I'm sure they'll love you! GOOD LUCK!!

dont crack a joke trust me, unless they seem loose and crack one first, and most software install's no matter what they will have to train you on istanlling and configuiring their software. so try to wing it. and most likley they will ask you what other software you have installed and configured. dont lie about it but embellish a little.
By all means joke with the interviewer and be prepared to possibly annoy or offend them. Pleasant and upbeat is better. Whatever you do don't let the interviewer know that you don't have a basic grasp on the english language as it is written. As for faking it, the interviewer is going to try & trip you up. So you should know how to do basic installations, implement unattended installs and be able to write a script for automating updates across the network.
