Do the lyrics "don't do it in the first place" apply to programming ?
Question:
With near certainty, someone has doctored the software so that it no longer works.
Put it this way. Your default assumption should be that the software has been doctored, unless there is anti-counterfeiting technology in place. I believe most such technology can be circumvented anyway.
When that person realises what they have done, they will also attempt to alter your duties, so that you never get to test the software.
It's axiomatic that all this will occur, unless proper safeguards are built in up front.
If you are a programmer, you are aiming to develop a system that works reliably in the field as well as the laboratory.
"Well I guess the answer is don't do it in the first place"
lyrics - Missy Higgins - The Special Two
(the quality needs to be there up front)
It's axiomatic that you need proper safeguards. Why get involved if the safeguards are not there, but instead there are shonky people ?
Answer:
Time to search for employment elsewhere... and after you are settled at your new job,... drop the news about the lack of ethical behavior to the appropriate person...
