Modeling--Business Question?

Question:
What role does modeling play in systems analysis and design?

Answer:
Modeling (or methodology) is (1) the survey and planning of the system and project, (2) the study and analysis of the existing business and information system, and (3) the definition of business requirements and priorities for a new or improved system. A popular synonym is logical design. Systems analysis is driven by business concerns, specifically those of the system users. By comparing current models to future expectations adjustments can be made to maximize efficiency and minimize redundancies.
