What are the modern methods of inventory management?

just having a little of a mindblock doing my project work.. i look at the question and all that comes to mind is the vendor-managed inventory (VMI), nothing else.i read my text and i cant seem to get anything useful.

universal product code, or UPC. thats what its all about. and the use of scanning each product to check it out of inventory and orders more of that product. computers, UPC, and scanning. these are some modern methods of inventory management.

Well there is LIFO (last in first out) and FIFo (First in first out).

at mcdonalds we just count every thing we have and compare it to what we have recived
