Bankers and Human Resourcers. attention please!?

Question:
I have been offered two jobs at the same time.
One is to work in a bank as a 'customer service representative'.
The Human resources is working as a 'recruitment consultant'.
I have no experience in either field.

Obviously I am aware that everyone is different, every job is different, every environment is different.
All these factors depend on your personality to how you respond to specific tasks/jobs. But I am completely stuck on which one to chose.

Just wondered if you have any advice/experiences from within these environments/types of jobs that you could share.

What was it that made you end up in your job? Any regrets? What are the things you enjoy? Is Monday a tough day for you... or do you love every day of the week?

Answer:
customer service could be anything from bank teller to call center to help desk, to...

Those jobs are entry level in a bank. If you have a degree, you could go on into sales, bank operations, or any number of areas. If you do not have a degree, you will be pretty limited, but could work into supervisory roles within customer service.

HR recruiting means screening resumes and candidates, trying to find matches for the open positions. Not sure what "consultant" part means, could also indicate entry level. This position will prepare you for lots of roles within HR, or as a full time recruiter within a "head hunting" firm.

How far you go is up to you, how well you "listen" to the advice from above, your skills, work ethic, etc.

If you are ambitious, you would consider either one entry level - but don't start your first day telling your manager you see this position as a "stepping stone". Just perform, and you will get noticed for other opportunities.
Who offers a person with no experience jobs like these?
Poppy makes a good point

However, banking CSR can a good career track if you're bright and work hard

Recruitment consultant if you don't have much experience in any career yet could be tricky - no offense - however the commission can be good but look out for a crappy basic salary.

To me though anything to do with HR is like selling your soul to the devil

Either way, pick something you enjoy - obviously ;-)
The recruiter job is going to require you to sell, sell, sell. If you are very outgoing and can sell thats great. I have 12 years of banking experience and think the CSR job is a good entry level job. You will also be required to sell products in that position but not as stressful.
Well, you are doing great, try the bank if you have patience.
They do not treat you so well in the beginning, but move you up well and fast if you can adapt. They will always be around, offering more money when they get to know you. Good resume insert, insinuates honesty.
i agree that banking CSR can be an opportunity and a half but ultimately it will depend on whether you want to pursue a full fledge career in banking & finance. If you have a finance related degree then off course your decision is made.

The pluses for the banking role is:low stress, career path because of a big organisation. But on the other side if you dont play your cards right, it may not lead anywhere fast.

HR is pretty much the same. You either love ir or hate it. On the Negative Side of the fence: lots of selling - you will be a full time selling machine with budgets to meet and kpi's that will haunt you. But on the +'s: It's fantastic for people who love money! Loads of money to be made for a not very hard job. And if you are committed then you progress up the ranks VERY quickly.

The other thing I found is that if you do decide to take on recruitment, and down the track you change your mind then you can very easily get back into customer service roles. Recruitment is very people based industry and I generally find that recruiters who come from a CSR background find it very easy to pick up supervisory/management roles within the customer service industry if they want a career change.
Are you sure someone has not been telling pork's on their C.V?
I worked for a bank for 12 years before having my kids. It is a good job with good benefits. With you customer service experiance you will be fine.

I am sorry I have no experience of recruitment consultants.
