How else can I get a job?
Question:
Answer:
Sorry and i say this from experience. I am also in the computer networking field. I've got a long list of stuff i can do. However your gonna have to actually get out there. Companies don't normally respond if you have applied on their website. I know trust me. Try looking on your states websites, going to the employment office where you live and applying for jobs that way. Thats how i keep getting responses even now that i am employed in the field. Good Luck!
Hard to believe unless you have too much experience for the jobs you are applying for.
find a need. fill it. To find what's needed, just ask the prospective employer. Getting face time is critical. Moonlight starting your own business. If government work, moonlight starting a service that bids on gov't contracts. Those three should get you far. I've found more jobs for myself and others with those methods than i would have ever simply doing resumes and interviews. Try them out. Find a need. Fill it.
Have you tried contacting a staffing company or a head hunter? Most corporations these days hire IT on a temp to perm basis. That way they can try you out, and not have to pay benefits before deciding to hire you. That's how I got my past job and my current job.
Try job staffing agencies as a 1099 (contract) employee, especially those that cater to clients looking for IT related skillsets. Look up local staffing agencies in the phonebook and on the web. Talk to them and offer to fax/email your resume. When they have a client looking for your skillset they'll call you in for an interview. If the client is pleased with your performance they may offer you a direct hire after the contract ends. Most contracts between staffing acencies and the client are open ended, meaning they can release you at any time. On the negative side the client offers no benefits (although some staffing agencies may) and your hourly wage tends to be lower than a W-2 employee. But if you're good and the agency gets positive feedback from the client they shouldn't have any trouble keeping you working. At one point I was active with 6 staffing agencies at the same time and I always had work. Try it for a while. Good Luck.
