I have transitioned in and out of HR several times over the past 25 years. My background is also psychology. Here are some realistic transitions:
HR related - Organizational development
-Human capital management, training and career development
Public sector - workforce development, employment and training - School counseling,
Others- events management, executive coaching, counseling
Helpful here is to begin to identify what motivates you. There are several good inventories - free, online
From Mapp to Strong Interest inventory
Check into becoming a life coach
I would say Public Relations, but I don't know how much that would pay. You could try for Advertising, that would pay well, not sure how much you're getting now though. And I really liked your answer on the Affirmative Action issue! Good-luck. =]
Hi there, have you thought about Coaching? I am working with a few people in your same position who really want to utilize their talents but need more variety. It is fairly easy to get started and the income potential is pretty good, and can be great. You can start with moonlighting while keeping your current job and transition out with a set exit plan.
