How do I edit a web site offline and then upload the modified files when connected?

Question:
I want to be able to edit *and test* a web site while offline on a laptop. And, once I am connected again I want to upload any modified file. I would like to use HTML, so even a Notepad-type program would be great. The program has to be free also...I don't have the money to buy software. I do not need a WYSIWYG editor, and would prefer not to use one.

Answer:
Check out NVu, Its a great free HTML editor along the lines of Dreamweaver. It has WYSIWYG features but also gives you the options to code by hand. This application lets you connect to your server and download the files so you can edit them locally. Hope thats up :)
use frontpage of ms office
Frontpage will do it.
You can use any, and i mean any text editor, but preferably notepad. But make sure you save the file as .htm or .html and kep all your source files in one folder, along with any images and sound. All in the same folder. You can now test the site, as it will look to the entire world in your own browser! Click file, open file and navigate to your home page wherever you've kept it. Click on it and watch your website! Remember to click refresh whenever you make any change to the original source code. Also remember that everybody does not use the same browser, so check your website in all the most popular browsers: firefox, explorer, opera and safari, to make sure that it isn't displaying haywire in other browsers.
Hope this helps.
