Human resource is all about managing people - shortlisting, interviewing, examining, selecting, recruiting, training, developing potential, cost of human capital, etc.
Whereas, Retail management is everything about the front-end of Supply Chain Management i.e managing customers, sales, product, brand, vendors, inventory, etc.
HR applies to all fields as managing poeple is the basis of managing any organization & while, RM is focussed upon profit generation through front-end sales that also involves human resource management.
So, they are related after all in a very indirect/subtle manner.

It's your aptitude that can help you in making the right choice. If you like dealing with people & know more abut their qualities/attributes to help realize their potential HR is the right choice. Well, it can be. Human Resources has to dow tih the management of people in a business. Whether that business is retail, or food service, or manufacturing, or petroelum products, doesn't really make a difference. There are HR managers who work in retail environments.

The term human resources is used tocover that part of a company which covers the hiring and maintanace of the HUMAN resource - it's employees. They cover everything from salaries to insurance to hiring and firing, severance packages and all that goes along with dealing wiht PEOPLE.

Being a retail manager you will do a lot of the hiring and firing, and general work with thepeople, but depending on the company there may be a HR person ABOVE you to do a lot of the rest.
