Yes, it's a hot career right now and it can be applied to many different types of businesses and different industries. Projects also change constantly so it can occupy your attention and not get too boring. I would recommend getting a project management-related degree to get a competitive advantage too.

One of our church member he is project manager for large telecommute company for 15 years. Then he got laid off, and since then he couldn't find the project manager job for 12 months. He lives in Bay Area, California, which is high demand for high tech position.
