It depends on whether you like sports or action games. If that were me buying the games, I would go for the action games. They seem to have more of a challenge than the sports. I would buy the Call of Duty, resistance: Fall of Man, Rainbow Six: Vegas, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma.
i would suggest Ninja Gaiden Sigma because ninja fighting is tight Grand Theft Auto IV because it is completly awesome and fun Call of Duty IV because it is a great series and Madden 08 because it is full of fun.
I can tell a good or bad game, just by looking at it's cover. D;

Still one of the best action games ever, with plenty of brutal combat to get your heart pumping A lot of new content in the form of new boss battles, new weapons, and new enemies Subtle changes and additions make the gameplay even more centered and compelling Rachel's chapters are nicely integrated and a welcome change of pace.
Bad:
Shaking the controller to increase ninpo attack power is a bizarre, needless add-on.

Rainbow Six: Vegas...
Its a hella fun game, and it actually has difficulty to it...
I dont know how much difference between systems is, but I play it on the XBOX 360..so that is what I am going by.
Also, a game that wasnt mentioned on the list is F.E.A.R.
That I have seen and played on the PS3, and it is fun!
I have Resistance and Ninja Gaiden, so those 2 would be good to get.
Of course, you have to get GTA IV because everyone else is getting it, and from the trailers, it looks like it's going to be a really good game.
Really no point in getting sports games because it's only fun for a season, and in a year, there's going to be a new game. Plus, I'm not too fond of Madden because EA has really screwed up the franchise. With each iteration, the game hasn't gotten better, it just got more complicated. Why do people still talk about Tecmo Bowl? It's simple, but it's fun. That's what's missing in the Madden games for the past few years.
Call of Duty IV is just Call of Duty III with better graphics.
So, for the fourth game, go with Rainbow Six: Vegas.
Just a suggestion, but have you considered Lair or Heavenly Sword? Lair should be released soon, and Heavenly Sword should follow shortly after. I think those 2 games are much better than any of the sports games.
