Question:
I work for a company that I have never had problems with until now. But the problem arouse when I became pregnant. I was advised by my doc. that it is not a good idea to work at this place because of the weight (300lbs) I would have to lift several times a day. So I asked my employer if there was any light duty work that I can do until I have my baby. I was advised that there was no work available at the time and he would call me when there was something available. I also went to human resources about the matter and they told me only the person I prevously spoke with could help me. Well needless to say, I still keep up to date with everything going on at the workplace. I see all these memos coming out on all the positions available and also people I know that are working there tell me about how bad the need positions filled. I am qualified to do over half of what is available, yet still on leave without pay, because so-say according to that certain person there is nothing open.
Answer:
department of labor can help you and that is what they are there for; give them a call
They aren't required to create a position for you, you are required to meet a position available. If you are only able to half of any given position, then you don't qualify.
Always remember corporations are not people and have no feelings and the people working there are part of the corporation.
