Value of a UK degree in Canada?

I would assume that as long as it's from an accrediated university in the UK then there would be no problem recognizing it in Canada. My girlfriend has a degree from Oxford in biology and had no problem finding a great job here. A friend of mine also completed his law degree in England (can't remember the university) and passed the bar in Canada and now practices here.
