Help I owe over 150,000 in students loans yet I can t find a good job.?
Question:
Answer:
Its good that you went to college. Keep looking for a good paying job. Maybe you can defer some payments or make smaller payment for now. Just pay them something so it doesn't look bad on your credit. some employers check credit ratings. Don't give up it isn't hopeless!
With your education and background, you're not likely to get a job in HR right away. You might want to try to get an HR assistant job to start with, or maybe a marketing assistant. Once you're in the company you can express your interest in the HR field and try to get transferred or promoted into a position. With your varied background, you might even be able to position in a small company that will let you use all your experience, and would be a good place to start learning HR.
In the mean time, check with your lenders to see if you can delay repayment, or at least get your payments lowered. If you have several loans, try consolidating them to get the payment lower.
Good luck!
Boy do I know how you feel! I graduated with my BA in Psychology and minor in Counseling and Educational Psychology last May. 06. I have been looking and taking Masters classes for over a year now, and the loans are adding up fast!
Anyway, I think part of the problem is the job market right now. One of the places I keep trying for is our states Health Department, and I finally got some good information from someone with whom I interviewed. He says that what they are getting is a lot of people relocating and having to start at a lower level, so they are taking all the jobs from those of us who are just slightly less qualified who would normally be hired. He said that between November and April are the only times they get fewer applicants and can fit people in.
So worst case, you do like the other posters said and work out a deferment plan with your lenders of your loans, and get hired in late 07/early 08 and start making your payments then.
GOOD LUCK!
Would you consider a position as a Spanish language radio television manager in charge of media sales - coordination. You have the perfect credentials.
Good luck!
Join the military and get a commission. Apply to be a Spanish language instructor. Did you know that the US Army is the largest educational entity in the world? There is always a demand for well-qualified instructors. While you are on active duty you won't have to start paying on the loans unless you want to.
