What makes a great Human Resource Person? (please read additional details)?

Question:

Hi! I'm trying to return to the HR field, but I want to make sure that I am working on not only my technical skills and training, but also the people skills necessary to do a effective job. But think about the people skills that are important for a person in this field. What do you feel are the most important people skills for a person to possess that works in Human Resources?

(Your answers will help me to benchmark to see if there are other skills I need to develop).

You have to see both sides and go with what is morrally right not for you but in general. Although your off to a good start since I do not know alot of people who would have came on here to get advice. Also to know the labor laws. You also have to be compasionate about the workers since 9 times out of 10 that is whos gonna be involved. Also get to know the employees before you make any decisions and do not let personal beliefs get in the way of your job. Maintain a professional attitude at all times no matter what.

The ability to see both sides of a situation and empathize with both parties

try to rememebr you are there for the employee and not just the good of the company. HUMAN resource not company resource. i have had so many bad experiances with hr at the company i worked for because the hr was on a power trip. dont let that happen to you.
