If your Human Resource Manager comes to you about another company asking for a recommendation, what do you do?

Question:
How do you respond, without putting yourself in trouble with either company, to a potential employer looking into your background? Any recommendations?

Answer:
I don't quite understand your questions. Normally most HR departments will only verify dates of employment to prevent themselves from getting sued over a negative comment.
Be honest. You can't be in trouble, when you are trying to advance.
OOOPs! Should have told them you can't take an inquiry until after job offer. You may have a problem. But since you're already on this path, then tell them the truth. You're looking for advancement in your career.
Your questions isn't completely clear. If you are already working at a company and your Human Resource Manager asks you for a reference on another employee with whom you have worked previously, I would give an open and honest reference. Your loyalty at this point lies with your current, not your former employer.

If you are not yet hired by this company, you should be loyal to your current employer and adhere to their policies about giving references.
do whats best for the company u r working for
Tell them you were looking into a company for advancement or a career change
