Human Resource Management (HRM) is both an academic theory and a business practice. It is based on the notion that employees are firstly human, and secondly should NOT be treated as a basic business resource. HRM is also seen as an understanding of the human aspect of a company and its strategic importance. HRM is seen a moving on from a simple "personnel" approach (or was supposed to) because it is preventative of potential problems, and secondly it should be a major aspect of the company philosophy, in which all managers and employees are champions of an HRM based policies and philosophy.
HRM is the management of employees - benifits, conduct and discipline. They can make up to (but not limited to) 3 figures in salary
To put in lamest terms a Human Resource Manager is the link between the manager ( or management) and their employees. HR people are there to assist managers in the best practices are administered to insure the employees are being treated fairly and that the company is running according to the labour laws that are set forth for the business world. The Hr person acts also in many disciplinary actions as the mediator between the managment team and employees.

As for Pay depending on years of experience a HR person can make 3 figures. Rookies make depending on company and state/province- $15.00 per hr and up.
