Breaking a Lease due to Underage Drinking?

Question:
i live in an apartment with 5 other 18/19 yr old college students. 3 out of the 5 (including my roommate) go to their friends' apt in the same complex every fri and drink. the 2 nondrinking people share a room together and don't really care, but I really don't feel comfortable living here, especially since my roommate drinks. is underage drinking a good enough reason legally to break my contract from management and move out?

and how much alcohol has to be consumed in order for them to get in trouble with the law? if i tell the police about the room that's giving alcohol to underaged people, will the drinkers get in trouble too?

Answer:
EVERYONE will get in trouble.
Find someone to subrent your space to. No sense in ratting people out, you may need these guys to be your friends some day. i'm sure there are plenty of guys who would be cool with that situation, even if it isn't for you.
Any underage drinking is against the law! I'd think of a better reason to move and then get out as soon as possible!!!!! If you say anything though, EVERYONE including you will get punished!
I guess for underage any amount is illegal and for an overage any amount is legal. Only when driving the amount is measured.A guy of 35 years could drink a bucket if he could.
But for someone like 18 I guess any amount would land in trouble. But its best to check the law for ur state. States may have different laws.
perhaps you should lighten up a bit, If they are not out driving or abusing someone. Let them have there fun and let them be. If you really hate it next time you move in with someone perhaps you should know them a bit better
Take the issue to the management of the complex and get their opinion, if you are not satisfied or management does not see your side, get a lawyer to help you get out of the contract. There are free lawyers you can get to help you if you cannot afford the lawyer's fees.
You will not be able to legally break your lease because you do not care for the activities of your roommates. No court will up hold that regardless of the age of these kids. You choose to live with these kids, and should have been more careful in your choice. If you say had a problem with the apartment or complex that would be different.
My guess is you are renting from an actual land lord and not these kids, if that's the case you should talk to the landlord about the penalties of breaking your lease. You can also go to your states tenant landlord law web page to get more information, that should be easy to find with a little searching.
On a side note you are in college, you need to grow up. You can run and tattle when things don't go your way. My suggestion is live out the next few months of your lease and move out at the end of the year.
You can't break a lease that way.
