I am tring to use a web cam- itis saying NO VIDEO CAPTURE HARDWARE?

Question: I have installed the proper software- plugged the USB port in from the webcam- then I go to test it and it says NO VIDEO CAPTURE SOFTWARE, I have reinstalled it - several times- I went and tried a new webcam and still it does not work. where do i go from here?

same problem i had with my camera but it was cheap the camera cant handle big resolutions.
