be a project manager if you have studied it. if you know how to make wbs, schedules, gnatt charts and all the stuff.
it is a challenging carrier, if you are not upto it, you might get bumpi ride.
they are the highest paying employees in the world to my knowledge.
To acquire an Architect license, if this is your goal, requires an aw full amount of dedication, and commitment, and education. It is likened to becoming a doctor. With proper education, internship, and prepping for certain exams, you are looking at about 12 years.
Project manager..I don't know.
This is a vital decision which will commend your future. I have mentioned here the growth prospects for both PM & TA here. I have also given the characteristics of both PM & TA. But it is you who has to take a crucial decision which will decide your future. But that decision should be based on your interests and capabilities. Please don’t take any hasty decisions and repent later.
If you are very good at technical aspects and if you feel you have life there and can beat all the odds go after technical line else if you feel you are very good at people management skills and if you feel you can convince people please pursue Project Management.
Project Manger:
Has a very good career ladder (can move till CEO, COO,VP-Delivery).
Salaries are good (15 L to start with).
People management will be the core competency.
More of a delivery responsibility.
Will get a chance to manage small to very big teams.
Work load is not that hectic.
Responsibilities are more.
Will get a chance to do presales.
Will get lot of certifications funded by the firm.
Can work on different projects immaterial to the technologies.
Career Ladder: PM - > Sr.PM / Program Manager - >Director Delivery - > VP-Delivery - >C00 - > CEO/MD
Technical Architect:
Career Ladder is a bit weak(can move till CTO,VP only)
Salaries are very good but in the long run it will depend on the companies.
Growth prospects in the long run is delicate (after becoming Sr.Architect it takes quite a while to get in to the next position and from there on the growth will be very low)
Will be leading small teams only and that too will be limited to technical aspects.
Job will be very hectic and it depends on how one manages
Is a well paid job but for a mild growth.
In India companies generally prefer a young techie rather than an old one. So the opportunities are minimal.
Will be very useful for Architectural Analysis.
Career Ladder: TA - >Sr.TA - >Director Technology - >CTO/Vise President Technology - >CEO
