Do you think that Six Sigma is dying out or sustaining its presence in corporate America?

Question:

Answer:
Some companies have found that the cost of attaining Six Sigma is greater than the cost of letting a few errors slip thru.
I think it is gaining ground in corporate America, but as more and more people get certified it won't be as special or highly looked upon.
i think a lot of people got caught up in it as a tqm program but nobody understands it so it has kind of fallen by the wayside for short term profit maximization.
Just like all the fancy named corporate fads before, it will fade away and some hot new fad will come along. Large corporations take common sense concepts, give them fancy names, muck them up with details, teach them to their employees and write books about them. Little companies do these common sense things naturally without fanfare. Those little companies who don't do them fail.

It is probably good that the big companies do this because most middle managers haven't got a clue about what it takes to run a business since they are mostly bureaucrats as opposed to entrepreneurs.
