Good luck.
It can be interesting, and there are a lot of job opportunities.
On a day-to-day basis, you're spending a lot of time filling out forms. When new employees come in, you need to fill out payment authorizations, assemble an entry packet, schedule pre-employment screenings, enroll them in benefits, provide their orientation, answer their questions, etc. You would be putting together job ads, reviewing applications, assisting with interviews, maintaining employee files, doing the legwork when someone wants to change their benefits or transfer, etc, etc. You would be involved in grievances, workers comp claims, unemployment claims, retirement, pension administration, and sometimes even work-related litigation. You may develop and implement personnel policies, and make sure other administrators are following all the rules (OSHA, affirmative action, discrimination, ...)
If any of this stuff sounds interesting, I'd say go for it!
