Certificate Expiration is interfering with my attempt to install updated Internet Explorer 7. Can you help??

Question:
Is my computer too old to use Internet Explorer 7?? After several attempts to install the recommended updated version of IE7, I was notified that my older computer had a Certificate Expiration for the msft IE, and that it is a 1999 program? Futher is was stated that my browser has a security component that expired., and that apparently prevents the installation of the update. Is there any way that I can override this rejection and udate the IE?? Altho my computer is older, it seems to be working fairly well, after cleaning off some of the older material. Your help will be appreciated, and any other suggestions will be welcome.
