Recent grads, what questions were you asked in your first job interviews out of college?
Question:
I am applying for a position as an Human Resources assistant and have an interview coming up. I wish I know what kind of depth the questions would cover, since I only just graduated and do not have experience yet. I know that I won't be able to judge my own experience based on others, but just wanted to get an idea of what other recent grads have experienced. Thanks!
Do you have a high school diploma. I know it sounds dumb, but trust me, they'll ask.
the question everyone always asks is "tell me about yourself" which may sound simple, but is crucial. Sum up your life / experiences into a concise 60 seconds and cover why you'd be good for the job.
They'll ask you about your past jobs - what you liked and what you didn't like. The 'didn't like' part is much harder - be careful - you don't want to say "all that damn paperwork" if this job will require lots of paperwork.
other general questions are "tell me about a situation where you worked well within a team setting" or something related to team work.
The other cliche questions are "what's your greatest strength / weakness"
"why this company"
