My company is heavily promoting the hiring of younger employees in their 20s and 30s, yet the human resources dept. is all in their 50s. Why don't they (human resources) worry about their own demise?
Answer:
Because they are at an age that if they get laid off they could have a lawsuit for age discrimination
they were probably the ones that came up with the idea.
they have the skilled updated annually and know the "laws" and often time the "dirt" on the other staffers.

They might prefer workers who would be with the company for a lengthy amount of time. They are looking at the future in this situation.
