What happens when you try to resolve any over-allocation problems by “leveling only within slack?”?

Question:
In terms of our project resource allocations, in project management

Answer:
You may not totally resolve the over-allocation problem, but the project end-date will not be moved out. This is because you have used the "slack" (ie the amount that some activities can be delayed without affecting the project end-date.) to delay certain tasks.
