Human Resource questions on pay raise?
Question:
I think your supervisor is being very unfair to you.
I would find another job then give a notice letting them know you are leaving because your supervisor did not give you a raise as promised.
The bad thing is that you did not get anything in writing stating when the raise would take effect. It was just a verbal agreement.
Next time get it in writing!
Do you have your supervisors agreement in writing, with the date of the raise? If you do then great, you will need to approach HR about correcting this.
If you do not have this, then you will be most likely out of luck as your demand will not hold any weight with HR since it was not confirmed in writing. Always get any change in employment items in writing and signed by both yourself and the company.
Hi, your supervisor is a pretty bad one. She gave you the run around on your raise, but there's not much you can do about it, except look for another job. She probably looked into giving you a raise and wasn't allowed to or didn't have the money in her budget, so she's trying to pass it off that it was the new year's raise you were always talking about. You don't have much recourse, since it was a verbal agreement. You do however, know that your supervisor is a jerk who isn't looking out for you. Find a new job and new boss.
