Question:
I just quit my job of 6 years, July 1 would've been my anniverary date had I stayed. Since July 1st last year and the present time I have used all the vacation time that was earned. My question is...Am I entitled to a prorated amount of vacation compensation (what I have been earning since last July)? What about the 3 sick days that I was given on January 1st 2006 that I have not yet used? The 2 personal days that I have not used yet? What about my floating holiday that I haven't used yet? Am I entitled to receive any compensation for them?
Answer:
that varies company to company. Sick time/personal days are often not paid and they aren't usable after you give notice. You usually get paid for any unused vacation time.
Accruals of such items ended when you quit.
It all depends on the company's policy. Do you work in a "Right to Work" state? Most likely, you agreed to certain terms at the time you were hired. (And you probably weren't too worried about them at the time.) Keep in mind, you QUIT. There aren't many companies that have great benefits for people that quit...only for people who are cut/fired/downsized.
Good luck to you.
